Striant® SRStriant® SR is a prescription only medicine that contains the hormone testosterone. It is used to treat adult men when levels of testosterone fall below the normal range, a condition known as hypogonadism. This can occur due to a variety of medical conditions or as the result of certain medical treatments but testosterone levels naturally decline in many men from around age 40. Low testosterone levels are associated with tiredness, loss of muscle tone, increased bone fragility and reduced sexual desire. Low testosterone levels can be confirmed by laboratory tests. Normal testosterone levels can be restored through the use of testosterone replacement therapy. Replacement testosterone can be delivered in several ways, including injection or through testosterone gels or patches which are applied to the skin.
