Hyalofemme® – Vaginal Moisturiser
Long lasting relief from the symptoms of vaginal dryness
As many as one in two women experience symptoms of vaginal dryness during and after menopause, yet as few as one in four sufferers actually seek medical advice for the condition. Vaginal dryness is also commonly experienced by new mums, those suffering other medical conditions such as diabetes and obesity, and people undergoing chemotherapy.
Hyalofemme® vaginal moisturiser is specifically designed to relieve the symptoms and discomfort of vaginal dryness. Hyalofemme® contains hyaluronic acid, a natural lubricating and moisturising substance found throughout the body. It is widely used in skincare and medical products due to its hydrating properties.
Studies have shown that application of Hyalofemme® once every three days significantly reduced symptoms of burning, itching and inflammation caused by vaginal dryness, resulting in an enhanced perception of wellbeing among users. Hyalofemme® has no negative side effects on the vaginal environment.

Vaginal Dryness and Menopause
Vaginal Dryness in new Mums
Vaginal Dryness due to medication
Vaginal dryness (”atrophic vaginitis”) is a result of natural hormonal changes associated with menopause. Half of all women will experience one or more symptoms such as pain during sexual intercourse (“dyspareunia”), vaginal itching, discharge, inflammation or urinary problems.
Vaginal dryness increases as the menopause progresses, and the International Menopause Society recommendations for the management of postmenopausal vaginal atrophy highlight the importance of starting to treat vaginal dryness early in order to avoid further complications and long term damage.
Vaginal health is crucial for sexual health, urinary tract health and sense of wellbeing, the importance of which should not be underestimated.
Hormonal changes, damage to the vagina during birth and emotional exhaustion can contribute to vaginal dryness in the first few months after giving birth.
Vaginal moisturisers such as Hyalofemme® provide a convenient, non hormonal treatment for vaginal dryness, to help relieve irritation and dryness and promote a healthy vagina.

Prescription medications, such as those used to treat breast cancer, high blood pressure and depression can contribute to vaginal dryness.
The symptom of vaginal dryness may be alleviated by hormone replacement therapy but is not always a preferred or recommended treatment, particularly if other medical conditions are present.
Vaginal moisturisers such as Hyalofemme® are widely recognised as an appropriate non-hormonal treatment for vaginal symptoms.

The active ingredient in Hyalofemme® is HydealTM, a proprietary formulation of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural lubricating and moisturising substance found in the skin and around the joints, and is widely used in skin care and medical products due to its excellent biocompatibility and hydrating properties. Hyaluronic acid can absorb many times its own weight in water. This is slowly released to give a long-lasting moisturising effect. In addition to Hydeal-D™ (hyaluronic acid derivative), Hyalofemme® also contains Propylene glycol,Carbomer, Methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, Propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, Sodium hydroxide and Purified water.
Hyalofemme® has a lasting effect on vaginal dryness and may only need to be applied once every three days, but can be applied as required should additional lubrication be necessary.
Hyalofemme® comes in a convenient 30g tube and includes a sterile re-usable applicator and costs £8.99. The product does not contain oils and it is safe to use with condoms or other barrier contraceptives.
Hyalofemme® is approved as a CE marked medical device and is marketed in a number of EU Member States. Hyalofemme® is now available in the UK and may be purchased directly from The Urology Company at www.theurologyco.com or from our selected distributors.
Studies undertaken by Fidia Farmaceutici S.p.A, the developer and manufacturer of Hyalofemme® in a representative group of 80 women suffering from vaginal dryness found that the application of Hyalofemme® once every three days resulted in a reduction in the bothersome symptoms of burning, itching and inflammation. Hyalofemme® did not alter the natural acid-alkaline balance in the vagina. The majority of users found Hyalofemme® to give excellent persistent hydration and an enhanced feeling of well-being (data on file).
